PE & Sports Premium Report

In 2013, the government introduced additional funding to improve the provision of PE and Sports in primary schools. This funding was allocated to all head teachers and ring-fenced specifically for funding PE, physical activity and sports in schools.

St Monica's is a physically active school and this targeted funding has enabled us to increase our physical education and sports provision.

Our PE providers - Get Set 4 Sport, who are keen sports people themselves, have introduced various sporting activities and competitions with other schools across the borough.

We use the additional funding to:

  • fund the continued cost of the specialist Sport providers - Get Set 4 Sport. Mr Bennett is our dedicated coach and he works with children from Nursery right up to Year 6; providing age-appropriate and engaging sporting activities for all the children
  • fund various sporting clubs both during the day and after school hours
  • pay for development opportunities for our teaching and support staff in PE and sport
  • improve resources to support the development of Sport/PE and increase participation.

Please see the reports below which detail how we spent the dedicated funding received each year and the perceived impact.
