Art Statement of Intent

To deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the development of every child’s ability and academic achievement in the area of Art.

Our children are able to express themselves creatively in many ways and art forms an integral part of our topic learning. We deliver art and D&T in blocks. During the autumn term we explore D&T through countries and their culture. This will expose the children to a variety of materials and techniques they may otherwise not come across. We also have a whole school approach for Christmas art focusing on a specific artist/theme and this year that focus will be on families. The aim is to show the progression of skills from year to year. Throughout the year, the children also have the opportunity to explore art and D&T through various cross curricular activities that are planned to tie in with other subjects. In the summer term, each year group has the opportunity to explore particular artists and techniques. We also offer art and crafts enrichment clubs after school, for children who wish to further enhance their artistic skills!
