I live in South Tottenham with Steve and my three children Aidan, Poppy and James. All three have attended catholic primary and secondary schools - St Mary's Priory primary school (Tottenham), St Ignatius College (Enfield), Our Lady's Convent High School (Hackney) and my youngest is currently in the sixth form at St Thomas More School in Wood Green (Haringey) - so as a parent, I have experience of a number of schools across differing boroughs and understand issues faced by parents today.
I am a practicing Catholic within the parish of St Ignatius at Stamford Hill, where I also sit on the finance committee. I also have many years of experience as a Foundation Governor at St Mary's Priory primary school. I work full time for a Facilities Management company based in Canary Wharf.
I believe St Monica's is a fantastic school providing a friendly, safe and positive learning environment where young lives can grow and develop academically, emotionally and socially to prepare them for the next stage of their life journey. Pastoral care is equally important to me, and we are very proud of our Catholic faith, which permeates throughout the school with the support and guidance provided by Fr Gabriel. All of this is delivered by a very strong team of leaders, teachers and support staff headed up by Amanda Ruthven, Head Teacher.
I believe my role as Chair, alongside the Governing Body, is to support the Children, Parents and Staff - to listen and challenge to ensure that the standard of education and care provided at St Monica's supports all to reach their full potential and remains one to be proud of.
From March 2021, Governors agreed to use the Diocese's Governor Hub as the main resource for governing body meetings. All subsequent meeting papers and Policies can be found on this page.
These main governance documents are reviewed at Committee levels and ratified by the Full Governing Body at their first meeting of each academic year. The fully ratified documents for the each academic year will therefore be uploaded after the first FGB meeting.
